Job Description
Principal Responsibilities: The Assistant Youth Sports Director will provide quality coaching for the JCC sports program including but not limited to preschool enrichment classes, sports camps, clinics, private lessons, and sports leagues. As well as will be responsible for planning and carrying out the Basketball program agenda in accordance with the stated purposes and goals of the JCC.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a maximum of 40 hours per week. The work schedule will vary and will be assigned. The Jewish Community Center is an EOE (equal opportunity employer).
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet members and guests while maintaining a professional demeanor to deliver exceptional hospitality. Become familiar with members' names as a tool to aid in customer service.
- Learn and enforce the JCC rules and guidelines.
- Attend all scheduled shifts on time and appropriately attired. Flexibility in schedule is required.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings and training sessions.
- Reliability: Able to perform job duties to standard independent of supervision.
- Responsibility: Able to take ownership of work performed by applying initiative, staying organized, having attention to detail, and meeting deadlines.
- Continually being a positive role model for all JCC members.
- Professionalism: Able to react calmly and effectively in all situations.
- Understand the JCC's emergency procedures.
SPORTS DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide weekly coaching for Early Childhood Center Enrichment classes.
- Provide weekly coaching to Sunday preschool/sports programs.
- Work in the sports department with all ages from preschool to adult.
- Coach weekly clinics for sports leagues and teams
- Provide private lessons including managing private lesson schedules.
- Assist the Director with communication on progress to parents and students.
- Assist the Director as needed with gym and/or field maintenance.
- Transport students from the Early Childhood Center to the gym as needed
- Serve as a head scorekeeper for adult sports programs as needed or required.
- Provide assistance to the Youth Sports and Adult Sports Director as needed
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
CAMP RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide additional oversight to sports camps during the summer and during school breaks.
- Assist in Interviewing, hiring, training, and supervising part-time/contract coaches and counselors. Training staff and contractors to work appropriately with all age groups to provide a safe and secure program, to maintain a positive attitude when dealing with members and other staff, and to be customer service oriented.
- Submitting paperwork such as payment information forms and purchase orders in a timely manner for all summer camps and school break programs.
Minimum Qualifications: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Walking
- High school diploma or GED Required; College degree preferred.
- CPR/AED certified prior to hiring (First Aid certification a plus).
- Fitness/Sports/Wellness/Health experience or schoolwork required (College coursework in health, sport, or exercise sciences a plus, trainer/fitness instructor certification a plus).
- Ability to work with and coach children of all ages
It is expected that the Youth Sports and Sports Camp Assistant Director will be a team player as part of the JCC Professional Staff. He/she is expected to be aware of the JCC Mission Statement and work within the framework of that mission. Responsibilities of the job may change as the needs of the JCC and/or community change.
Salary: $25,000 - $35,000
